6. Add an event to monitor. This works in a similar way as the Event Linking discussed in the “Event Linking” section
of this manual. Select an Event Type, and Event Source, an Action Type, and an Action Target. The options listed
in Event Source vary depending on which Event Type (such as triggers, serial ports, and serial profiles) is selected
and how it is configured. For more information, see the sections of Config (Setup) Page Overview chapter that
are related to the desired Event Type.
7. The Action Type list allows you to select an action that will occur when the selected Event Type occurs on the
selected Event Source. When you select an Action Type, a list of options is displayed in the Action Targets list.
Following are the available Action Type options and their associated Action Target options:
NOTE: The list of Action Types varies based on whether the profile is a Video Panel or View.

the system selected from the drop-down list)

A tour is displayed until a
specific event occurs.
Any tour configured on the client computer. The tour
is automatically displayed when the event occurs.
NOTE: With Event Monitoring, you can select Any as the Event Source if you do not want to create separate but
similar profiles for every source. If you select Any as the Event Source and Switch Video as the Action Type, the
Action Target list contains an Event Source option so that you can create an action on the same source
associated with the event.
8. If you selected Show Event Monitor List, three more options are activated:
Timeout allows you to determine how long, in seconds, an event is shown in the Show Event Monitor
List. If you select 0, the event listing is displayed it until it is acknowledged.
Confirm requires a confirmation before the event is removed from the list.
Message is any general information that you want to display with the event, such as an action that a
guard should take when the event occurs.
9. Select a Priority level for the action. If different event types occur simultaneously, the event with the higher
priority level is displayed until it is acknowledged. Then events with lower priority are displayed. The highest
priority is 1, and the lowest priority is 10.
10. Click the Apply button when you have finished your profile.
You can now view your event profile in Live mode. A Video Panel profile can be displayed on the Live Page by right-
clicking a video window. A View profile can be displayed by selecting the Views button in the site tree. See the Live Page
Overview chapter for more information.
